Based on the Landmark Homes Rangitoto duplex Ready to Build plan, a compact footprint combines with an easy living layout to provide relaxed, contemporary living at its very best.
Inspired to provide a low maintenance ‘lock-up and leave’ option for holidaymakers and downsizers, Landmark Homes Taupō and Hawke's Bay franchise co-owner, Steven Painter and his team worked with designers to amend the Rangitoto plan – a duplex design that offers a home of exceptional quality within a small, easily maintained section.
Located in Taupō’s new Ngā Roto Estate, this home has been perfectly positioned facing north-west to capture views overlooking the township and lake.
“The beauty about duplex living is that you create a great little community,” says Steven. “And that’s a big advantage for those who want to downsize as they retire, but still want to be connected to their neighbourhood.”
LIGHT AND BRIGHT
The second unit in a development of three duplexes, has an exterior of bold black vertical cladding contrasted by white brick makes a strong first impression and offers a hint of the impeccable quality awaiting within.
As you walk through the front door and into the entranceway, the light and contemporary décor creates a sense of welcoming calm. “We carefully chose a colour palette that would create a light and uplifting aesthetic,” says Steven. “To achieve that, we selected Resene’s ‘Quarter Truffle’ which is cool and calming and works beautifully with the natural timber used throughout.”
FLEXIBLE LIVING
Designed to cater for a range of lifestyle needs – from holidaymakers and extended families to retirees – the Rangitoto Ready to Build plan allows for plenty of flexibility. “With an abundance of floor space, there’s the option for homeowners to move the interior walls around to change the layout to suit individual needs.”
On the lower level, guests or teenagers are well catered to with a large family bathroom including a freestanding bath and separate shower, a living area that leads to an outdoor deck, plus a fully carpeted garage that can double as a rumpus, study or office, or even a second living area.
LUXURY MEETS PRACTICALITY
The well-appointed kitchen features a stone-top island bench, Fisher & Paykel appliances, and a scullery. “A special touch is the smokey grey reflective glass splashback,” says Steven. “This beautifully captures the lush greenery opposite, drawing it inside and enhancing the home’s natural, calming aesthetic.”
Also on the upper level, the luxuriously large master suite is perhaps the jewel in the crown and has been designed to offer a five-star retreat with a large walk-in robe fitted with plentiful shelving and drawers, and an ensuite featuring a fully tiled shower and twin vanity. Floor to ceiling windows bring in lots of light and add to the lavish sense of space.
A Rinnai Linear 1000 fireplace in the living room perfectly heats the entire second level and adds to the relaxed aesthetic. For extra toastiness on cooler days, underfloor heating has been installed in the ensuite and family bathroom. And in summer, ducted air conditioning will keep everyone cool and comfortable.
