Loving the lake life

With a section already in mind, Sandi contacted Landmark Homes Taupō’s New Home Sales Consultant Paige to talk through her ideas. “Paige had a great energy, we really hit it off,” says Sandi.

“The section ticked all our boxes in terms of views of the lake and location, so we were thrilled when Paige could see our vision and explained what we could achieve within our price range.” 

Coming from a very small, three-bedroom, one-bathroom home, Sandi and Mark were excited to see the plans for their dream home taking shape.

“Paige did an amazing job at guiding us through the process and putting together the plans,” says Sandi. “And then with Caleb as our builder, we felt like we were in the best possible hands. He was fantastic.” 

With four spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms including an ensuite, a walk-in wardrobe in the master suite, and two living spaces, there’s space for entertaining, family time, and quiet time. The main living area is open plan with high ceilings, loads of natural light, and a warm, cosy ambience that Sandi and Mark look forward to coming home to. 

“The H-plan layout gives us the living areas on the left side and the bedrooms on the right. There’s a lovely sunny outdoor living space in the middle and sliders that lead out from the main lounge on one side and the hallway on the other. 

“It means that if the kids are outside in the backyard or in their pool, they don’t have to run through the whole house. They can just go in through one slider to the bathroom. But also, if we’re entertaining guests, we have our own side of the house which means the kids won’t be disturbed while they’re sleeping.”

Offsetting the clean white décor, the kitchen extractor unit is housed in an attractive timber wrap with open floating shelves on either side. “I think it gives the space a lovely touch of character,” says Sandi. It also ties in nicely with the timber-look flooring and overall contemporary-country aesthetic of the home. 

“I think the biggest thing is, the Landmark Homes team were realistic. You can trust they’ll keep within your budget, but they have loads of creative ideas on how you can achieve the look you want.” 

Having been in their new home for just over a year, Sandi says she still receives amazing compliments from family and friends.

“Guests often have that ‘wow’ moment when they walk into the kitchen,” she says. “In fact, we had friends over who ended up buying a section across from us and are now building with Landmark Homes based on our plans.”

Sandi and Mark say their home building journey has been incredibly positive. “Landmark were amazing to work with. They brought my goals to reality. 

“We just love it, and we take so much pride in it. It feels like such a welcoming home."

“Of course, there were some things we couldn’t tick off the wish list within our budget, but for each of the things we couldn’t do, Landmark came up with an alternative that we loved.”

Sandi says she was also impressed with the level of follow-up care. “New builds always have teething issues, but we found Landmark Homes to be excellent at getting those dealt with quickly, without any drama. Nothing is ever a problem, it just gets sorted without question, and to a very high standard too.
