The Coromandel is calling

From the tranquil shores of Whitianga to the vibrant community of Matarangi, the Coromandel region effortlessly mixes peaceful coastal vibes with a touch of modern living.

It’s little wonder the area is experiencing something of a renaissance, attracting a growing number of people from Auckland and beyond looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city living for a more laid-back lifestyle.

We caught up with Landmark Homes Coromandel and Hauraki franchisee Will Quigley to find out more.

Community connection

Landmark Homes Coromandel and Hauraki have seen remarkable growth and change in recent years.

Initially part of the Landmark Homes Waikato area, the Coromandel and Hauraki franchise has now forged its own path, deeply connected to the local community. This change marks not just a shift in operations but a dedication to focusing on the unique needs and lifestyle of the Coromandel and Hauraki regions.

Key to this transformation has been the opening of a new office in the heart of Coromandel, plus the expansion of the team to include project managers and three additional office staff. Leading the charge is Tony Croft, who has been instrumental in running the franchise and bringing his client’s visions to life.

Waterfront living redefined

There's something special about living by the water, and the Landmark Homes Coromandel and Hauraki team has been capturing this essence in their recent projects.

“Our first Coromandel Showhome, built right on the waterways about four or five years ago, and it really resonated with people. The blend of innovative design and stunning location was a perfect match,” says Will.

This initial Showhome did more than just attract attention; it raised the bar in the market. Its combination of popularity, affordability, and the ability to personalise the design to individual preferences hit the mark for many potential homeowners.

“That adaptability, along with the captivating experience of waterfront living, really appealed to our clients,” Will adds.

The Coromandel renaissance

There’s no doubt that Coromandel has a unique allure. “It's not just the beautiful beaches or the relaxed vibe; it's also about being part of a community that's a little quieter, a little more connected to nature,” says Will.

Post-pandemic, there's been a significant uptick in the appeal of the Coromandel and Whitianga in particular as destinations not only for holidays but permanent living. The pandemic reshaped how people view work and life, with many now prioritising remote working and less congested living spaces.

“It’s not just Whitianga; places like Whangamatā and Matarangi are also seeing this change. People are rethinking their lifestyles, and Coromandel offers that perfect mix of tranquillity and community,” Will explains.

From city to serenity

Landmark Homes Coromandel and Hauraki has seen its market grow and change recently. For a long time, Aucklanders looking to leave the city flocked to Tauranga. But now, there's a noticeable change in the wind with more people being charmed by what Coromandel has to offer.

“It seems the traffic congestion in Tauranga is becoming a bit of a deal-breaker. As a result, people are discovering that Coromandel offers a more accessible and peaceful lifestyle,” says Will.

This trend is not just about escaping city life but finding a balance between convenience and lifestyle. Just two hours from Auckland, Coromandel, with its stunning landscapes and laid-back atmosphere, is becoming a preferred choice for those seeking a change.

Looking ahead

The team’s strong dynamics and solid reputation have been key to their success. Will says the future looks bright for Landmark Homes Coromandel and Hauraki.

“We’ve got exciting plans for another Showhome and plenty of upcoming builds on the horizon,” he says. “Our goal is to keep creating homes that people not only love but that also add to the charm and character of Coromandel.”

It's this vision that drives the team forward, promising a future where every new build is a step towards enriching the Coromandel living experience.
