Planting day success at Wharewaka Point

Landmark Homes Taupō and Rotorua join forces with the Taupō District Council for a community planting day in the Wharewaka Point subdivision.

Associated with designing and building 33 homes within this subdivision, the Landmark team wanted to give back and get stuck-in, laying mulch and planting over 70 trees, flaxes and grasses.

The team had a great day getting their hands dirty, enhancing the walkway from Victory Drive to the Taupō Wharewaka Point Reserve. Not only do trees give off oxygen but they also reduce the amount of storm water runoff, which reduces erosion and pollution in our waterways. It also benefits many species of wildlife as they depend on trees for habitat, food, protection and homes.

‘’We’ve spent a lot of time building within this subdivision,’’ says Gerry Schumacher, co-owner of Landmark Homes Taupō and Rotorua. ‘’And now it’s important for us to give something back to the community, making sure we keep Taupō clean and green and a lovely place to live.’’

Thank you to the Taupo District Council for supporting our planting day in the area.
