We caught up with Landmark Homes Christchurch and Canterbury franchisees, Coralie and Stephen Pollard, who have been proudly building award-winning homes in the region for 16 years.

Canterbury is Landmark Homes’ longest serving franchise. And the future looks promising too. With a robust pipeline of projects already on the books, the year ahead is set to be another busy one.

A testament to their collaborative success is their enduring association with Suburban Estates Ltd., Stephen and Coralie’s Showhome partner. "They’re fantastic. We love working with them," Coralie says. “We’ve built five Showhomes with them in the past, and they’re just brilliant.”

Staff highlights

The Landmark Christchurch and Canterbury team consider themselves a family, with many staff being part of the crew for many years.

A notable highlight for the team this year was Amanda Coster taking the title of Landmark Homes 2023 New Home Consultant of the Year.

Amanda joined the team in 2019 and says her job is incredibly rewarding. “Amanda is a fantastic New Homes Consultant,” says Coralie. “And it’s great to see that reflected with her winning this year’s coveted award – she’s very deserving, and the whole team is incredibly proud.”

Coralie has also been recognised for her experience and expertise, having recently joined the Canterbury Master Builders Executive Committee. “I was really thrilled to be the first woman ever to be asked to join,” she says. “It’s a huge honour.”

The Landmark Homes Christchurch and Canterbury team has recently unveiled a beautiful new Showhome in the sought-after subdivision of Oakbridge, Marshland.

The 241m² bespoke build was designed to fit a somewhat challenging pentagon-shaped site – wide at the front and narrow at the back.

“The Showhome is positioned, front and centre within the subdivision,” says Coralie. “It’s the first home you see as you come over the bridge.” And it’s certainly hard to miss with a striking exterior design that includes a wing-like skillion roofline reminiscent of a bird in flight. Other standout features include an interior oriental-inspired garden, a king-sized main suite, and an entertainer’s dream kitchen.

Coralie is heavily involved with the design and development of the franchise’s Showhomes. “For two reasons really,” she explains. “The first reason is so that I know that whatever we fit the house out with will be commercially available for at least two years – particularly tiles and carpet choices. I want to be sure that if someone wants to build using exactly the same materials, that they’ll be able to do that. So I always have that conversation with suppliers before we choose any materials.

“The second reason is around price. I want to make sure the materials we use tick the box for quality but are also within the affordable range for our customers

Coralie says she tries to source all materials for Showhome builds locally. Every element from the tapware to the staging furniture, is carefully chosen from Canterbury suppliers. “Visitors often ask about where to source specific pieces,” she says. “We’re always very happy to direct them to local suppliers that we trust and support.”

For Coralie, crafting the perfect Showhome lies in striking a delicate balance. “It should dazzle like a Showhome, but still evoke the warmth and familiarity of one's own living space.”

She believes in creating an ambience where visitors can instantly envision themselves curled up on the couch, watching the rugby or enjoying a cup of tea. Success, for her, is when a guest says, "I could live here."
