Embracing the outdoors in Whitianga

With a comfortably sized footprint of 205m2, the Otaki design Showhome draws inspiration from the relaxed Coromandel lifestyle. As you enter, you are welcomed into a light and bright sun-soaked open plan living and dining room. There’s a fabulous sense of space and openness thanks to high raking ceilings, chic white décor, and large sliders that lead from the living area to a deck covered by a large portico.

“The home embraces the natural, beachy feel of the area,” says Landmark Homes Coromandel franchisee, Will Quigley. “We wanted the homeowners to have that ‘on holiday’ feel all year round, and I think that’s been well achieved.”

Affordable quality

Landmark is well-known for building large ‘showstopper’ homes that offer uncompromising quality. “One of the reasons Landmark designed the Otaki Ready to Build plan is to demonstrate that a home doesn’t have to be big to be beautiful. We also build smaller and more affordable homes, but we never compromise on the quality of our impeccable build standard,” says Will.

The carefully considered floorplan has been designed with family flexibility in mind with four bedrooms, two generously sized bathrooms, a large deck, and plenty of space for entertaining. “The home is a nice size for couples without feeling too big, but also big enough to accommodate guests or a growing family,” says Will.

Outdoor living

Designed for easy living and relaxed entertaining, this Showhome has masterfully executed the all-important indoor-outdoor flow, not only from the living area, but also the master suite, and three additional bedrooms.

“Having multiple rooms opening to a very livable and enjoyable outdoor space is a big feature of this home, and one we know will be very popular,” says Will.

The main outdoor entertaining hub is designed for year-round use with a Kwila deck and covered portico featuring skylights. “This area is like an additional room to the house – it offers a space to relax, sun protection, or for the kids to play, whatever the weather.”

“A big part of the Otaki design inspiration was to maximise outdoor livability,” says Will. “Kiwi’s love being outside on the deck entertaining friends and family, or just being able to watch the kids play and enjoy that sense of connection to the outdoors.”

Connecting with nature

With the Showhome set within one of the country’s most beautiful coastal regions, the inspiration for its interior design was obvious. “We wanted to bring in that beachy feel of the Coromandel with a palette of natural, earthy colours throughout the home.”

Timber-look flooring and kitchen cabinetry combine with sandy tones in the tiling, and feature walls include soft green hues in the entranceway and designer wallpaper in the bedrooms. A carefully curated selection of fixtures and fittings bring it all together perfectly.

Low maintenance living

“We wanted to create an aesthetic that offers a relaxing and comfortable environment, including materials that are low-maintenance and easy care.”

On the exterior, the home looks chic, clean, and sophisticated in white, from the Linea weatherboards to the garage door and roof.

In the heart of the home, the modern entertainer’s kitchen features high quality appliances including twin ovens and an abundance of storage and bench space for a clean, uncluttered look and feel.

In the living room, floor to ceiling glazing opens the space to allow an abundance of natural light. This sense of luxury, light, and spaciousness continues into the family bathroom which caters equally well to busy mornings and quiet evenings with attractive tiling, a large freestanding bath, and a stylish frameless glass shower.
