An Entertainer’s Dream on Goldie Drive

As you arrive at the Townsend Fields subdivision in Rangiora, the new Landmark Homes Christchurch showhome sits proudly at the intersection of Goldie Drive and Townsend Road.

“Quintessentially Landmark,” this villa-style design based on our Ready to Build plan Karapiro plan, combines dark linea cladding, a dark grey roof, and titania joinery and window frames to create a classic yet striking aesthetic.

Unsurprisingly, the Karapiro is a client favourite and has been used for our showhomes a few times now: in Hamilton, and New Plymouth. The fourth time’s a charm! The only difference from the original plan is that the home had to be shrunken from 255m² to 240.5m² to suit the slightly smaller subdivision section.

There’s one specific client here: someone who loves a classic Landmark villa. The Karapiro design works fantastically for long, narrow sections while the house itself is both an entertainer’s dream and a functional family home with lots of storage.

Onsite landscaping was kept understated and deliberately minimalist: “For this build, we were all about the house!” laughs Coralie Pollard, co-franchisee of Landmark Homes Christchurch. And what a house it is!

The showhome offers three bedrooms, a study and 2.5 bathrooms, plus a second separate lounge for extra peace and quiet. A separate laundry room leading to a double garage.

As you walk through the gracious covered entryway, you’ll walk straight ahead into the central living area. Here, an open-plan dining room and lounge flank the kitchen and scullery, with coloured flooring throughout.

The designer kitchen is a big draw, boasting a substantial 3.5-metre island and profiled cabinetry for timeless appeal. Slate matt and white satin cabinets with pewter handles marry beautifully with rumbled splashback tiles and a statement light feature over the island.

“It’s a gorgeous kitchen in a traditional style. I think people will go nuts over it,” says Coralie. “It looks fantastic!”

A separate butler’s pantry is perfect for containing the clutter and keeping surfaces tidy when you entertain – and comes with an additional sink, built-in cabinetry, and a Fisher & Paykel wine fridge to store your favourite tipple!

Sun streams through bi-fold and French doors that open onto two outdoor living areas, where an overhung roof and pergola provide shelter. Swing the doors open, let the frivolity flow outside, and sit underneath the roofline with a glass of wine anytime.

An Escea gas fire takes pride of place in the main lounge, to warm the house further on chilly Christchurch days. Cosy up to the roaring fire and soak up views of a snow-capped Mountains.

The master bedroom features a large walk-around wardrobe and luxurious master ensuite. An equally stylish family bathroom boasts a freestanding white bathtub and double-sized frameless glass shower.

Interior walls are painted in a range of greys and luminous sea fog to complement the striking exterior. Meanwhile, the home’s furnishings are autumn-inspired, in emeralds, blues, and coppery-ginger hues. “We wanted to introduce splashes of colour to balance out the grey and white colour palette,” explains Coralie.

The result? Effortlessly chic.
